This page is about developing a web site. It includes
some of the sites I reference(d) when I started mine
and as I continue working on it. Not everything will be
just on developing a web site though; I have a link
about how to deal with certain types of persons in a
chat room, for example.
A second page of "not quite TG stuff" for everything
else like digital cameras can be reached at
Not Quite TG Stuff.

Guide
to Cascading Style Sheets
This one is simple, straightforward and even I
understood it.

Webmonkey Style Sheets Guide
This one has a bit more than the prior site, but
again, I found it quite easy to use and understand.

Web Accessibility
Initiative
"The W3C's commitment to lead the Web to its full
potential includes promoting a high degree of
usability for people with disabilities. The Web
Accessibility Initiative (WAI), in coordination with
organizations around the world, is pursuing
accessibility of the Web..."

Color
Voodoo
"Like voodoo, color can sway thinking, change
actions, and cause reactions. The most powerful
information about color symbolism, color theory and
interior design is finally available in a series of
books designed for computer viewing. Now you can
discover the real symbolism of color, learn the logic
of color design, and profit from successful color
communication in everything you do." This site has
gone commercial and they got rid of all the free
advice *sigh*. I guess they were correct about things
and so I have left them in my list.

VISCHECK
"The world's first online color-blindness
simulator!" Are you curious to know if color blind
persons can read your pages? Try the simulator. By
the way, if you are using a page that has one of
those stupid ad links, you may have to stop the
animation to see your simulated page. You will need a
quick mouse and a finger in some cases *smile*

Search
Engine Watch
This is an excellent overkill on Internet search
engines. "This section of Search Engine Watch
(formerly called A Webmaster's Guide To Search
Engines) is primarily for webmasters, site owners and
web marketers. It covers search engine submission and
registration issues. It explains how search engines
find and rank web pages, with an emphasis on what
webmasters can do to improve their search engine
placement by using better page design, HTML meta
tags, and other tips."

If some of my pic(s) do not display or don't change
and you happen to be an older version Netscape
browser person, that may be due to a Java security
option relating to firewalls (don't ask) you have set
in Netscape. The instructions below may help or at
worst will not hurt. The instructions are courtesy of
the owner of the Java script I used for displaying
the pics, http://www.anfyjava.com
They (anfy...) have a Java problems Frequently Asked
Questions (FAQ) section too. My thanks to them.
Look for the file "prefs.js" or "preferences.js"
(without the quotes) somewhere in your Netscape
"User" folder/directory. Open the file with a text
editor (e.g., Notepad, WordPad, vi, etc.). Add the
following (with no breaks or spaces) to the
"security" section in the file:
user_pref("security.lower_java_network_security_by_trusting_proxies",true);
This will only fix your computer and no one else's.

I discovered a good write up on dealing with flamers
and trolls, those folks that want to force their
thinking on you by attempting to crash your system
(the flamers) and who just need to tell you how wrong
you are for not being perfect like them (the trolls).
This information is applicable to your chat sessions
and for that matter, everyday life. Check out
Diane Wilson's advice.
